Fluid bed processing involves drying, agglomeration, granulation, and cooling of particulate materials. It is ideal for a wide range of both heats sensitive and non-heat sensitive products.
In fluid bed drying heat is supplied by air/Hot Gas through the product layer thereby removing moisture contents in the powder material. Hot drying air is distributed through specially designed perforated plates, on which the powder particles/agglomerates are resting.
The velocity of the drying air makes the powder ‘fluidize’, i.e. the particles get airborne; however, to the extent that only the finest/smallest particles leave the fluid bed with the air, while the bigger particles/agglomerates are conveyed/transported with the upward and forward directed flow of air (due to the perforation technique of the plate) into the subsequent section.
Fluid bed drying is suitable for powders, granules, agglomerates, and pellets with an average particle size between 30 microns and 4 mm.FBD has an air distributor plate welded directly to the fluid bed housing. A) STATIONARY FLUID BED DRYER (SFBD) –
Stationary Fluid bed dryer is designed on basis of the air pressure and velocities, for the feed material movement no external force is applied, air quantities are adjusted in such a way that the material to be dried is brought to the fluidized state by the air pressure.
B) Vibratory Fluid Bed Dryer (VFBD) –
Vibratory Fluidized Bed Dryer (VFBD) is a type of Fluidized Bed where the mechanical Vibrations enhance the performance of fluidization process. Its vibration properties prove to be more efficient in dealing with fine particles which appear to be very difficult to achieve with normal fluidized bed
Many of the Industrial material needed physical movement during. This has been overcome by means of vibrators directly mounted on the body of the fluid bed dryer.
The vibration level of is dependent on the behavior and nature of the material to be dried, the amplitude can be adjusted by adjusting the unbalanced weight of the vibrators.
The drier is mounted on the four pillars with springs in between pillar and the Fluid bed dryer to avoid vibration transfer from fluid bed dryer to structure. This gives a much lower product residence time per unit bed area than non-vibrating beds which can have powder layers up to 1500 mm.
